Everything is Just Beginning by Erin Bartels – a review

It started as a case of being in the right place at the right time…but not really sure how it happened. Michael Sullivan responded to a New Year’s Eve invitiation that was never intended for him.

But, respond he did and just like the world around him – everything begins to change. The year is 1989, and the Berlin Wall is falling and the communist world is breaking apart. Michael’s life feels like this too – his band has broken up and all his dreams seem beyond impossible.

Michael’s uncle is away…again. So, off to the party he heads and meets Natalie Wheeler, she and her very famous mom are the hosts. Natalie is just as talented as her mother, and not lettingher blindness get in her way at all! She and Michael realize the musical connection that brings them together. Awesome music ensues, as they jam and create together.

This book shows a lot of emotion. We learn about forgiveness. There are mentions of faith, but the book doesn’t push it. Forgiveness is probably the biggest virtue mentioned in this book and is very important for all people that have been hurt in life. Michael learns a lot about forgiveness and grows from it with help from Natalie.

This is definitely not a book for the younger set of readers. Erin Bartles addresses very grown-up issues, without them becoming the focal point of the story. Without being shocking, situations bring a more mature feel to this genre of fiction, without feeling trashy or inappropriate.

This is definitely a great add to our library – one to recommend to those who don’t want fluffy romance. “Book has been provided courtesy of Graf-Martin Communications, Inc.”
