Counter Attack by Patricia Bradley – a review

The latest offering from Patricia Bradley does not disappoint. Grabbing the reader’s attention straight away and not letting go, it’s quite a ride!

Alexis Stone is a police officer in Chattanooga, but wants to be the chief. Nathan Landry is Alexis’ high school romance, the Police Chief of her hometown, Pearl River, and a significant reason why she has no desire to go back home, despite her grandparents still being there. But when an emergency brings her back home, she become acting sheriff and together they have to stop a serial killer.

Multiple murders, a health crisis, unplanned life changes and workplace conflict come together for a very busy Alexis. But along with all of this, she has a second shot at her first love as they work together against a population who have infiltrated the town Nathan has pledged to protect.

I loved Alexis’ grandparents. They are as sweet and loving as can be, and are down home Christian folks who know how to whip up some Southern comfort food with words of encouragement and guidance when Alexis needed it most.

Counter Attack is an intriguing, action packed, second chance romantic suspense that drew me in from the start. It’s not the first book I’ve read by Patricia Bradley and always look forward to reading more. It’s easty to be pulled in by the premise of a serial killer known as the Queen’s Gambit whose calling card is a chess pawn. The murders are captured and uploaded to the dark web as part of a sick game.

This easy read is great for adventure/mystery readers.
